New Orleans officials remain “cautiously optimistic” for this year’s Fat Tuesday.
“[We’re] trying to remind people it’s the greatest free show,” said Mary Beth Romig, New Orleans Metropolitan Convention and Visitors Bureau spokesperson.Hotels are filling up quickly, which is a good sign, but the bureau is trying to be realistic about the country’s economic troubles affecting the parades’ turnout, Romig said.—-Contact Joy Lukachick at [email protected]
