The LSU track and field teams have signed nine athletes to their roster for the 2010 season during the early spring signing period, coach Dennis Shaver announced today.The Tigers will add two recruits for 2010: jumper Damar Forbes of Decatur, Ga., and sprinter Rynell Parson of San Antonio, Texas.The Lady Tigers have seven new signees, including four sprinters: Naffene Briscoe of St. Catherine, Jamaica, Nyosha Bryant of Charlotte, N.C., Kimberlyn Duncan of Katy, Texas, and Takeia Pinckney of Atlanta, Ga.The women’s team also added a middle distance runner — Charlene Lipsey of Hempstead, N.Y. — thrower Abbey Karin of Byfield, Mass., and jumper Whitney Johnson of Houston.Shaver said he is fired up about the skill these recruits will bring to LSU.”This is always an exciting time for our program because these are the young men and women we believe will continue the tradition of excellence that is LSU track and field,” Shaver said in a news release. “We expect these nine student-athletes to give us the foundation we need to compete for [Southeastern Conferene] and NCAA championships over the next four years.”
