The Women’s and Gender Studies Program is having a lecture from its WGS Engendering Scholarship Lecture Series, called The Louisiana Poverty Initiative, today, from 4:40 p.m. to 6 p.m., in 129 Himes Hall.
“The Louisiana Poverty Initiative lecture is a multidisciplinary hiring initiative,” Michelle Masse, Director of Women’s and Gender Studies said. “This lecture will inform and shape a myriad of research issues that change people’s lives and minds.”
Pamela Monroe, professor of School of Social Work, will be the keynote speaker for this lecture series.
As an active member of LA Child Prevention Council, Monroe has scholarly expertise in family policy, poverty and women labor force participation.
” I am glad that I am able to bring my academic knowlege to this lecture,” said Monroe. ” In this presentation, I will talk about not only reducing, but eliminating poverty.”
