The LSU Community Playground Project has been working with BruslyElementary School to design a new playground for the school, and theproject is one of five national finalists for a $10,000 grant.
Marybeth Lima, biological engineeringprofessor, and four of her students designed the playground with feedback from the students,parents and teachers of Brusly Elementary. After the design wascomplete, Sheila Goins, assistant principal at Brusly, wrote the grantproposal and included the designs in the application.
The grant awards will be decided by Internet voting. Of the fivefinalists, the top two vote getters will receive $10,000. Voting isavailable at kaboom.org/playday and closes Dec. 1.
