A recent Kaplan study showed only 20 percent of students applying to medical schools opted not to because of the recession and high tuition. That’s compared to 28 percent for students applying for MBA programs and 39 percent for law school applicants.
“We know that aspiring doctors are extremely committed to what has been for most a goal since childhood,” Amjed Saffarini, executive director, pre-health programs for Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions, said in a news release. “Knowing long in advance the costs associated with medical school, many have saved for years in anticipation, and not deterred when the tuition bill comes.”
