The LSU women’s basketball team is ranked No. 17 in the preseason USA Today/ESPN Coaches poll, which was released Wednesday.
No. 9 Tennessee and No. 20 Vanderbilt are the only other Southeastern Conference teams in the poll. Defending national champion Connecticut is a unanimous choice at No. 1, while Stanford, Ohio State, Baylor and North Carolina complete the top five.
The Lady Tigers are also ranked No. 9 in the preseason Associated Press Top 25. They have been picked to win the SEC by the media and were picked to finish second by the SEC coaches.
LSU opens its season when Loyola of New Orleans comes to the PMAC on Tuesday.
