More students may be able to attend LSU in the future. LSU admissions office changes its policy.
According to university officials, LSU is no longer requiring prospective students to take the ACT writing section.
If a student submits the writing section of the ACT or SAT, it will not be looked at.
This change allows LSU to admit around 300 more students each year…
It also will bring in around one million dollars in tuition and help the university reach its enrollment goal.
The University began requiring the ACT plus writing in 2006, but it has never played a factor in admitting a student.
Sports administration freshman Caleb Williams would like to see the requirement continue.
“I think it lowers the standards because it’s going from higher to something lower,” said Williams.
The Honors College considered the writing section for admission in the past, and they will continue to require applicants to submit it.
