CNN—The death toll after a shooting rampage at Fort Hood has risen to 12, including one gunman.
According to Fort Hood spokesman Colonel Benton Danner, there were three shooters in all. The other two suspects are in custody.
The shooter who was killed has been identified as Major Malik Nadal Hasan, 39 or 40.
Between 20 and 30-others have been wounded.
The Army says all the dead are U.S. soldiers who were killed in a sports dome known as the “soldier readiness facility.”
Military officials say the base is on lockdown.
According to Texas Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson, one of the gunmen was wounded after being shot by military police.
“They are trying very hard to handle a lot of things right now,” said Sen. Hutchinson. “As was mentioned before when I was talking to the general, they’re not sure if it was a soldier or one impersonating a military person.”
Fort Hood is about 85 miles north of Austin, Texas, and is the Army’s largest installation.
