Joel Raborn, biological sciences junior, is the Nov. 5 “Eye on Excellence” student winner.
Raborn, who maintains a 3.95 GPA, works as a technician at the Baton Rouge Regional Eye Bank. He is responsible for harvesting corneas from organ donors.
He is a biology and chemistry tutor in the Center for Academic Success, and he teaches pre-medical students in the Kaplan Test Prep Program.
Raborn also volunteers as a counselor with the Baton Rouge Crisis Intervention Center and as a team counselor with the Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors. He was also a volunteer First Responder for a year.
Raborn is involved in Alpha Epsilon Delta, Tiger for Donating Life, Crisi Intervention Group, Best Buddies, German Club, LSU Triathalon Club, Pi Kappa Phi and Phi Kappa Pi Honor Society. He is also an Eagle Scout.
