BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Mourners are gathering at the Louisiana Capitol to remember former Gov. Dave Treen, who died last week at the age of 81.
A funeral procession brings Treen’s casket to the Capitol, and he’ll be honored with a memorial service to include Gov. Bobby Jindal and former governors. Visitation in the Capitol’s Memorial Hall — between the House and Senate chambers — will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Treen was Louisiana’s first Republican governor since Reconstruction. He held the job for one term from 1980 to 1984.
The service will be televised by Louisiana Public Broadcasting and streamed online at www.lpb.org.
