The LSU soccer team blew past Vanderbilt in the opening game of this season’s Southeastern Conference tournament with a 4-2 win.
The Tigers (13-4-3) had a 3-1 lead at halftime behind a two-goal effort from senior midfielder Melissa Clarke. Freshman forward Carlie Banks and sophomore forward Kellie Murphy each added a goal to give LSU its final 4-2 scoreline.
The Commodores (11-8-1) exited as the tournament’s first casualty.
LSU will face the winner of this afternoon’s Auburn-Ole Miss matchup on Friday at 5 p.m. in the semifinal round.
