LSU assistant head coach/running backs coach Larry Porter has been named head coach at Memphis, according to several news outlets.
Porter was on the sidelines before the LSU-Arkansas game at 6 p.m. in a suit and tie and was being congratulated by players for accepting the Memphis job, according to the Times-Picayune.
Porter will be formally introduced Sunday at 3 p.m., according to the Memphis Commercial Appeal.
Porter is in his fifth season at LSU. He came from Oklahoma State with head coach Les Miles when Miles was hired by LSU.
