After months of debate, the Nov. 14 bond issue vote has garnered support from a wide variety of local organizations.
The $901 million tax package, which would fund improvement projects in downtown Baton Rouge and around the parish, recently earned the support of officials from the city of Baker — including the mayor and police chief.
Others organizations, such as the the Public Action Committee for the Future of East Baton Rouge and the local civic group Progress Is, have also pledged support for the bond issue.
The most outspoken critics of the vote are the Baton Rouge Tea Party and the now defunct Tax Busters headed by Fred Dent, a local anti-tax activist.
Early voting for the bond issue began on Oct. 31 and will end Saturday. The vote will be held the following Saturday.
