Katie Cicardo, mass communications senior, is the Oct. 22 “Eye on Excellence” student winner.
Cicardo, who is enrolled in the Honors College, maintains at 3.9 GPA. She is also minoring in French.
Cicardo serves as Student Government chief of staff and president of Delta Zeta Sorority. She is also a Manship Ambassador.
During the summer of 2008, Cicardo studied abroad with the Magical Media Tour, a four-week program in the Manship School of Mass Communication that allowed students to study in England, Scotland and France.
She works in the Office of Academic Affairs and is a former aide in the state Legislature. Cicardo worked as a legislative aide for the Committee on Transportation and the Committee on Health and Welfare.
Cicardo has been recognized for her academic achievements on the Chancellor’s List and the Dean’s List. She was honored as the Delta Zeta outstanding sophomore, Delta Zeta outstanding junior and Delta Zeta outstanding executive board member. She also received the Honors College sophomore honors distinction and is currently participating in Leadership LSU.
Cicardo volunteered for the Baton Rouge Area Alzheimer’s Association, Baton Rouge Speech and Hearing, Habitat For Humanity, Manna House Soup Kitchen, Southside Assisted Living Nursing Home and LSU Downtown Baton Rouge Clean-up.
She is a reciepient of the Louisiana Freshman Merit Award scholarship and the Taylor Opportunity Program for Students (TOPS) Honors Award.
