The LSU men’s golf team posted their first team score under par and finished in eighth place at the Gary Koch Invitational at the Old Memorial Golf Club in Tampa, Fla. this weekend.
Junior John Peterson posted consecutive rounds of 5 under par 67 on the first day of the tournament. Peterson ended the first day in sole possession of second place, one stroke behind Florida State’s Seth Lauer.
Peterson shot a 2-under 70 on for the final round of the tournament, and finished third overall out of 81 golfers in the field.
Junior Andrew Loupe posted the next best score for the Tigers. Loupe tied for 24th place in the tournament. He joined Peterson by scorching the course for a first round score of 67. Loupe shot a 76 and 72 for the last two rounds, giving him a cumulative score of 1-under 215.
The Tigers were seeing red for the first 18 holes. They started the second round in third place after shooting a 13 under 275. They couldn’t keep it going however after posting a 5 over 293 in the second round.
LSU began the final round in seventh place, but couldn’t find their way back under par and posted another 5 over 293 for the final 18 holes.
The Tigers will not receive any rest before their next tournament. They head to Ruston, La. to compete in the Squire Creek Intercollegiate on Monday, Oct. 5.
