Every year, Americans spend $30 billion trying to lose weight according to www.FAQ. org. Much of this is money being spent to buy diet pills, drinks or pre-packaged foods for fad diets such as Nutrisystem and the South Beach diet.
Weight know more promises to break through the hype of fad diets and give lasting weight loss results.
Weight know more is a diet program aimed to educate people on healthy weight loss that was started by LSU graduate, Carl Lapeyrouse. Lapeyrouse has been in the business of personal fitness and nutrition for over 20 years.
“We are an education program to help people make better decisions about their diet,” said Kayla Celaune, a representative for Weight know more.
A fad diet is defined as a diet that gains huge popularity quickly and usually makes dramatic claims about how quickly and how much weight one will lose. According the American College Health Association, fad diets don’t succeed in keeping weight off. They say the only way to lose weight and keep it off is to eat meals with fewer calories than you normally would and establish a regular exercise routine.
Celaune said unlike most fad diets there are no liquid meal substitutes or packaged foods in the Weight know more diet. There is however an appetite suppressant pill for users to buy.
“We do prescribe a pill however the pill itself does not cause any weight loss,” Celaune said. “It is simply way to curb cravings.”
Along with the pill, customers are given a book of diet and exercise guidelines and a recipe book. The guidelines help teach customers how to shop for healthy food, how to put together a healthy meal at home and how to order food in restaurant.
At the first consultation a doctor takes your weight and blood pressure and goes over your diet plan in detail. This consultation costs $133. 38. After the first consultation the only additional cost is prescription refills.
Most people that have used the program lost 10 to 15 pounds in the first month and one to two pounds each week afterwards. Celaune said the program is successful as long as the person is willing to work at it.
“This program is a lifestyle change,” Celaune said. “You have to do the work to see results.”
