The No. 4 LSU women’s golf team finished in a three-way tie for 10th place Friday after the first round of the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship in Knoxville, Tenn.
The Lady Tigers, who are without junior All-American Megan McChrystal and sophomore Tessa Teachman due to illness, shot a 18-over par 306.
Host No. 18 Tennessee came out firing on all cylinders to grab first place, shooting a 5-under 283.
Junior Amalie Valle and freshman Mary Michael Maggio led LSU, as they both shot a 3-over 75, while juniors Abby Oberthier and Lindy LaBauve, who are filling in for McChrystal and Teachman, shot a 5-over 77 and 7-over 79, respectively.
The second round will continue tomorrow at 8:00 a.m.
