UNDERAGE STUDENTS LOOT TAILGATERS FOR BOOZETwo University students were arrested at about 5:20 a.m. Oct. 25 following the LSU-Auburn game for allegedly stealing alcohol from ice chests left near campers in the Nicholson-Extension area.Campus police responded to a call from Facility Services cleanup crews in the X174 parking lot on Nicolson Extension about suspicious people and stopped Daniel Lowe, an 18-year-old University student of 1003 Cuervo Court, Chesapeake, Va., and Rankin Fetzer, an 18-year-old University student of 12915 Hansel Ln., Houston, outside the lot.According to Capt. Russel Rogé, LSU Police Department spokesman, Lowe and Fetzer were found with two backpacks filled with beer and various containers of alcohol with broken seals.Rogé said the students admitted to stealing the alcohol from ice chests at least 10 different campers in the area.Both students were charged with misdemeanor summons for theft and minors in possession of alcohol and were released.Fetzer resisted being handcuffed and was additionally charged with resisting arrest.GUY HAS GRASS IN AG LOTChad Darensbourgh, a 25-year-old unaffiliated with the University of 1874 Gamwich Rd., was issued a misdemeanor summons for simple possession of marijuana and paraphernalia at about 2:35 a.m Oct. 24.After spotting a parked car with its engine running in the North AgCenter parking lot, officers approached the vehicle to find Darensbourgh trying to hide a bag of marijuana between his seats, Rogé said.Rogé said Darensbourgh handed the bag, which contained about 1.3 grams of marijuana, to the officers when he stepped out the car.After Darensbourgh was arrested, officers found a red plastic pipe under his seats, Rogé said.Darensbourgh was released after being issued a misdemeanor summons. MIPS ISSUED AT PARTYWhile patrolling around the Lambda Chi Alpha house during a party Oct. 24 at about 2 a.m., LSUPD officers discovered two students who looked underage, Rogé said.Nicholas Fitzgerald, a 20-year-old student of 12086 Ellerbe Road in Shreveport, and James Williamson, a 19-year-old student of 301 Bridge Point Circle in Bossier City, were found outside with a Bud Light and a margarita respectively, Rogé said.Rogé said both students were reprimanded and were going to be referred to the Dean of Students as punishment. But the students were again found by police, only this time both were inside the party and in line to buy alcohol, Rogé said.Rogé said the students said they found the wristbands, which would have allowed them to drink, on the ground outside the party.Both were issued MIPs and released.FOUR ADULTS FOUND SMOKING WITH MINORLSUPD officers responded to a call of people smoking marijuana in the West Campus Apartments at about 7:40 p.m. on Oct. 24.When police arrived, they discovered five people inside a room with a propped open door smoking about 1.7 grams of marijuana, Rogé said.Arther Brown III, 23 of 2116 Pinhurst Dr. in LaPlace, Solomon Faurcha Jr., 22 of East 13th St. in Reserve, La., Alphonse Smith, 17 of 262 East 14th Street in Reserve, La., and Keith Hurst, 27 of 530 Homewood St., Reserve, La., were found smoking with an unidentified 16-year-old.The four adults, none of whom are affiliated with the University, were charged with simple possession of marijuana and contributing to the delinquency of a minor before being released.—-Contact The Daily Reveille’s news staff at [email protected]
