Citing recent fiscal hardships, Chancellor Mike Martin announced Friday that the University will eliminate the position of Vice Chancellor of University Relations — ousting the position’s current holder, University alumnus Rusty Jabour.”It’s been a deep honor to serve my alma mater in what has been a hallmark opportunity in my career,” Jabour said on Friday. In a memo addressed to the University Relations staff, Martin said recent funding cuts are causing the University to restructure some of its administration.Martin said the University will be looking at “a new administrative/leadership approach for University Relations” during the next few weeks. Jabour said he understands the University is going through “historically tough times” and will help the University with its restructuring efforts. To date, this is the highest University position to be eliminated because of budget cuts.Jabour has been at the University since January 2008. —-Contact Kyle Bove at [email protected]
