Former LSU pitcher Nolan Cain wasn’t one of the Tigers selected in the 2009 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft last month.But he is one of the first of the national championship team to begin his professional career.The right-hander will start his career for the Lakeland (Fla.) Flying Tigers in the Class A Advanced Florida State League.Cain, a senior this past season, joins first baseman and catcher Sean Ochinko and outfielder Jared Mitchell who will both forego their senior seasons to begin playing professional ball.Ochinko, an 11th-round draft pick by the Toronto Blue Jays, will begin his career with the Auburn (N.Y.) Doubledays in the Class A New York-Penn League.Mitchell, who the Chicago White Sox chose No. 23 overall, has been assigned to the Class A Kannapolis (N.C.)
