Citing recent fiscal hardships, Chancellor Mike Martin announced today that the University will eliminate the position of Vice Chancellor of University Relations.
The position was held by University alumnus Rusty Jabour.
“It’s been a deep honor to serve my alma mater in what has been a hallmark opportunity in my career,” Jabour told Senior Writer Kyle Bove this afternoon.
In a memo addressed to the University relations staff, Martin said recent funding cuts are causing the University to restructure some of its administration.
Jabour said he understands the University is going through “historically tough times” and will help the University in any way he can in during its restructuring efforts.
To date, this is the highest profile University position to be eliminated because of budget cuts.
