Former LSU gymnast Ashleigh Clare-Kearney has been named one of nine finalists for the NCAA Woman of the Year award, marking the first time an LSU athlete has been a finalist for the award.
“This is a great feeling,” Clare-Kearney said in a news release. “This is such an honor for me. It is unbelievable to be mentioned in the same sentence as the other student-athletes who are considered the best in the NCAA. Regardless of whether or not I receive this prestigious award, it is amazing and humbling to be recognized for everything I have done during my time at LSU.”
Clare-Kearney earned her spot on the list after a senior season in which Clare-Kearney won two individual national championships and anchored a Tigers’ team that advanced to the Super Six for the second straight season.
