Freshman forward Carlie Banks’ hat trick helped the LSU Tigers snap the undefeated streak of the No.8 Georgia Bulldogs in a 6-0 blowout win at home Friday.
Banks led the way with her first three goals of the season in the Tigers’ Southeastern Conference opener.
LSU (5-2-2) dominated from the start as Banks fired the first goal off a cross by senior Rachel Yepez within the first three minutes.
Banks’ second goal came off the rebound of a shot by senior Malorie Rutledge, and the Tigers took a 2-0 lead into the half.
Georgia (7-1-1) came out with a few chances to start the second half, but instead it was Yepez who notched the next goal to give LSU a 3-0 lead.
Banks recorded her third goal of the night on a shot inside the box.
Sophomore midfielder Taryne Boudreau scored to make it 5-0. Freshman forward Tricia Johnson had the first goal of her career to cap the night.
