The AgCenter will host “Harvest Days” on Sept. 26 and 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. — a family event complete with hay rides, a pumpkin patch, corn and sunflower mazes and tethered hot air balloon rides.The event is hosted by the Burden Center and the LSU Rural Life Museum. Admission is $5, but children younger than 5 can get in free. Admission to the Pumpkin Patch/Corn Maze is $5 for a family and $2 for individuals, according to an AgCenter news release. The last hay ride is at 3 p.m. each day, and children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Sunflowers and pumpkins will be available for purchase.The LSU Rural Life Museum will also host history demonstrations, interpreting activities that took place on Louisiana plantations and farms during harvest time in the 1800s, the release states. Artisans will demonstrate skills related to harvest like hunting, fieldwork, corn grinding, soap making, boat building and wagon rides.A special Civil War reenactment of the Battle of Baton Rouge will be presented at about 1:30 p.m. on both days.The Burden Horticulture Society is co-sponsoring the event. —-Contact Kyle Bove at [email protected]
