The LSU Lady Tigers began SEC play against the Tennessee Lady Vols Friday with a drama filed first set.
Tennessee head coach Rob Patrick received a yellow card and his night didn’t get any better after LSU battled to an extended 31-21 first set win.
Things looked bleak after Tennessee jumped out to a two-one set lead by taking the second set 25-23 and the third 25-22.
The Tigers would respond though after completely dominating the fourth set 25-12.
In the final set, the Tigers got out to an early lead and held on to finish the Vols 15-11.
Unfortunately for LSU, there was a game Sunday against the sixteenth ranked Kentucky Wildcats.
The Cats strolled into the PMAC and swept the Tigers in three sets 25-22, 25-12 25-21.
“This team is a dynamic team,” said head coach Fran Flory after the loss Sunday. “If you came Friday night you saw who we really are, if you came tonight you’re thinking, ‘Oh my gosh, they’re not very good’ so you know, we’ll regroup. We got a lot of matches left, they have a lot of heart and a lot of desire. They’ll rebound. Its one match out of a twenty match SEC season, we’ll be back.”
LSU starts a four game road swing Friday at Auburn, before traveling to Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi State.
The Tigers will return home to face South Carolina in the PMAC Friday October 9, at 7 p.m.
