The HopKins Black Box theatre opens the 2009 season today with “Cutting Across the Map,” an interactive production where performers explore life stories and how they intersect.
During “Cutting Across the Map,” performers will tell a variety of stories, some true, some lies and some in between. The stories range from personal anecdotes about drugs to Hindu myth to the creation of the atomic bomb.
“If a map is a series of lines that divides us up, ‘Cutting Across the Map’ is a series of stories that reveals the gaps in those lines where thought, ideas and memories leak from one side of the border to another,” said Ariel Gratch, communication studies graduate student and conceiver of the project and performer.
The audience is invited and encouraged to participate by disrupting the stories, making each performance unique.
The HopKins Black Box theatre is located in Coates Hall and donations will be accepted at the door.
