Senior Nicole Kantor advanced to the Flight 1 finals with a straight-set victory Saturday against Mississippi State’s Olesya Tsigvintseva at the Hoosier Classic in Bloomington, Indiana.Kantor knocked off Tsigvintseva, 6-3, 6-3 and will take on Kansas State’s Antea Huljev Sunday for the championship.Freshman Ebie Wilson squeaked out a three-set thriller, defeating host Indiana’s Myriam Sopel, 7-6, 3-6, 1-0 (10-5).Meanwhile, at the Rice Invitational in Houston, three Lady Tigers didn’t fare as well as their teammates in Indiana.Sophomore Whitney Wolf retired her match against Oklahoma’s Marie Pier Huet, while freshman Keri Frankenberger dropped a 7-6 (3), 7-6 (6) decision to Rice’s Alex Rasch and senior Sloane Mathis fell to Tulane’s Jessica Lange, 6-2, 6-3.The final day of the weekend long tournaments in Houston and Bloomington begin Sunday at 8:30 a.m.
