The LSU cross country teams had a strong showing today in front of a home crowd in the LSU Invitational at Highland Road Park.
The men placed third out of 13 schools with a team score of 87, while the women took fourth out of a 16-team field with a score of 94.
Both teams’ respective finishes were the best so far this season.
Houston swept both races of the LSU Invitational, which consisted of Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi schools. The Cougar men posted a score of 29 with their top five runners all finishing in the top 10 overall. The women finished with 40 points.
Sophomore Cullen Doody was the top finisher individually for the Tigers in 16th place with a 8K time of 27 minutes, 19 seconds. Sophomore Jenna Henssler was the first to cross the finish line for the Lady Tigers in 13th place with a 5K time of 19 minutes, 58 seconds.
The Tigers and Lady Tigers take a three week break in action before they travel to Fayetteville, Ark., for the Chili Pepper Invitational.
