A University Ph.D. student in the Department of Information Systems and Decision Sciences was selected as part of a 40 student group to attend the International Conference on Information Systems 2009 Doctoral Conference, according to a University news release.
The University nominated Yoonhyuk Jung, a fourth-year Ph.D. student.
“Usually there are about 100 applicants for the 40 positions, with only half going to students in the U.S.,” said Rudy Hirschheim, Ph.D. adviser in the University’s ISDS Department. “Yoonhyuk’s research was deemed very high quality, and the consortium chairs felt his work would benefit other members.”
Jung holds a master’s degree in education from the Information and Communications University and a bachelor’s from Sogang University. Both institutions are located in South Korea, according to the release.
Jung’s research focuses on how users make sense of and adopt new information technologies, particularly social technologies and wireless technology applications, the release states.
The event will be held Dec. 11-14, at the University of Arizona.
