Rape Aggression Defense Systems classes for the semester begin tomorrow at 6 p.m. at the Nelson Memorial building.
The 12-hour women’s defense program is sponsored by the Student Health Center and runs through Sunday. The program costs $25 for LSU, Southern and BRCC students, faculty and staff. General public registration is $45.
Kathy Saichuk, Wellness Education coordinator at the Health Center, said RAD raises danger awareness for women and provides hands-on defense simulations.”Once you take the basic class … you can go back and practice any time for free,” Saichuk said.
This semester’s class has about 35 participants — an increase from the usual 15, she said.
To register, call the Health Center at 578-5718 or e-mail at [email protected] by midday Friday, but late registrations are accepted.
