BATON ROUGE, La– The plans for Tiger Trails, the University’s new bus system, have come to through after months of preparation.
The campus bus system has been revamped and renamed. The process began a year ago, during the Spring 2008 semester, when Student Government approached University Parking, Traffic and Transportation with a request from students to improve the campus bus system, said Gary Graham, Director of Parking, Traffic, and Transportation.
The department hired a consultant who began took surveys, held public meetings, and created a data report to formulate the new bus system, Graham said.
The University hired First Transit to take on the project, he said.
With the new bus system, students will enjoy expanded routes, GPS tracking and increased comfort during bus rides, Graham said.
“(The buses) look better and are much cooler,” said Craig Poche, history sophomore. “I don’t sweat like I would if I walked to class.”
The administration has also reaped benefits from Tiger Trails.
“Obviously we get fewer complaints and problems,” Graham said.
