Forbes.com reports released early this month ranked the Flores MBA Program of the E.J. Ourso College of Business the 26th best public institution in the country, while U.S. News & World Report ranked it 35th in its “America’s Best Colleges” 2010 edition. The MBA program was judged against the other two-year public institutions in the nation, and it is something College of Business Dean Eli Jones called “very powerful.”The College of Business didn’t rank in the previous 2007 ranking.”We’re very excited about our rankings,” Jones told The Daily Reveille. “That is very powerful because what that says is that we have alums of our MBA program that are reporting out that they had a return on investment in terms of coming here.”The Forbes.com bases the rankings on the value of the return on the investment in the program, according to a College of Business news release. The College of Business’ undergraduate program ranked in the U.S. News & World Report for the last five years, with this year seeing a 17-spot jump from the 2009 edition, according to a college of business news release.”That comes from our peers — deans and faculty members of other universities,” Jones said of the prestige of being ranked in the U.S. News & World Report.Jones, who came to the University in the summer of 2008, said he takes no credit for either of the achievements.”I played no role; I had no effect,” Jones said. “We were happy to get the results of the survey and getting our students to see the value.”—-Contact Lindsey Meaux at [email protected]
