An advisory group for a state commission looking for ways to cut costs in state government is suggesting all higher education systems in Louisiana should fall under the jurisdiction of the Board of Regents, according to The Advocate. The four public college systems in the state are currently run by separate Board of Supervisors groups. An advisory group for the Commission on Streamlining Government recommended the move Monday, The Advocate reported. A similar group — the Louisiana Postsecondary Education Review Commission — is doing their own research on increasing efficiencies in the state’s higher education system. House Speaker Jim Tucker is running that commission, formed after higher education had to endure budget cuts for the fiscal year that began in July.—-Contact Kyle Bove at [email protected]
