It’s a bird! It’s a plane! Its a . . . bat?
LSU’s Student Union has been suffering through a bat infestation for the past couple months, Shirley Plakidas, director of the Union said.
“We’ve had a problem with bats and we’re working with an exterminator to try to solve that problem,” she said.
Plakidas said the exterminator the Union’s been working with is confident the bats will migrate elsewhere.
However, she’s unsure of their location in the Union because they constantly move.
“We would just like to get rid of them,” she said.
Other critters like insects and rodents have roamed alongside students through the Union.
“We work with horticulturist that comes in to water plants but in effect, that’s also exterminating where pests like to nest and hide out,” Plakidas said. “Operating a building on campus is a real learning experience in pest control.”
Plakidas encourages people who see any unwelcome animals to report to management.
“We want to know because that helps us work with professionals that come in and keep it under control,” she said.
