BATON ROUGE, La.—Former LSU basketball star Tyrus Thomas has been nominated for the Jefferson Award for Outstanding Public Service by an Athlete.
The prestigious Jefferson Award for Public Service is an award honoring those involved in community and public service in cities across America. The award is used as a “Call to Action for Volunteers” in local communities.
Thomas earned his nomination by staring the Tyrus Thomas Foundation 2007. It is a nonprofit organization that is committed to improving the lives of children in the Chicago area as well as in Louisiana. The foundation will work with the Baton Rouge Area Foundation to fund activities for the at-risk children.
