HUNTSVILL, Ala. (CNN)—A meth lab busted in the middle of the day at a Walmart in northern Alabama.
Drug agents shut down the lab found inside a parked car on Thursday after a series of busts.
Drug agents with the Madison-Morgan county STAC team and New Hope police responded to a home on Ridge Road.
In all, they found 91 pot meth labs Wednesday afternoon.
Police say one of the players involved with this lab is John Madewell, who was found in the back of car in Wal-Mart’s parking lot.
Sgt. DeWayne McCarver with the Madison-Morgan strategic counter drug team says his agents have been keeping a close eye on Madewell.”He was found here [Walmart], buying more items.”
Their surveillance led officers to the Walmart in Hampton cove.
“A take-down was conducted. Once the take down was conducted, we found an active lab in that car,” said McCarver.
An active lab, lots of vehicles, several shoppers left shopper Patti Richard in shock. “I mean it’s very scary with all these cars and people around. Someone could’ve been hurt.”
A dangerous combination, but a situation diffused.
Madewell is in jail with a $500 bond.
