Former LSU soccer player Robyn DesOrmeaux died Thursday morning after battling cancer for several years, the LSU Athletic Department announced in a news release.
DesOrmeaux, who was 27 years old, was a goalkeeper for the Tigers from 2001 to 2004. She had 28 careers wins at LSU, the most in school history.
DesOrmeaux was diagnosed with a malignant tumor in her lower back in 2004, according to a Daily Reveille story written about DesOrmeaux in 2006. She was also diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer called Ewing’s sarcoma, according to the same report.
