LSU junior All-American John Peterson was eliminated Wednesday afternoon in the first round of match play at the U.S. Amateur Championship in Tulsa, Okla. Georgia Tech’s Cameron Tringale, the No. 12 seed, edged the No. 53 seed Peterson with a 2-up victory. Peterson held a 1-up lead at four different ventures, but fell behind at the 14th hole, before Cameron ousted him with a birdie on the final hole. Peterson and the Tigers open up the season Sept. 27 at the PING/Golfweek Invitational in Bremerton, Wash.  —-Contact Sean Isabella at [email protected]
