The LSU football team is ranked No. 9 in USA Today’s Top 25 preseason poll, which was released this morning.
This marks the sixth straight year LSU is ranked in the top 10 in a preseason poll. The Tigers are coming off an 8-5 season — the worst in current coach Les Miles’ LSU tenure — that ended with a 38-3 win against Georgia Tech in the Chick-fil-A Bowl.
Florida is No. 1 in the poll, followed by Texas, Oklahoma, USC and Alabama. Five Southeastern Conference teams are in the poll — Florida, Alabama, LSU, No. 10 Ole Miss and No. 13 Georgia.
LSU was ranked No. 6 in last season’s USA Today preseason poll.
The Tigers start the season Sept. 5 against Washington in Seattle.
