BATON ROUGE, La.– Students came together Friday night at the Union to party the night away with a wide-range of activities and events at Late Night.
The kind of fun taking place is different from an average college party. Since 2002, Late Night has been alternative to normal college parties, offering a safe, alcohol-free way for students to have fun.
The addition of “edu-tainment,” the incorporation of education into the night’s activities, is a new development from previous years. This part of the program featured health education booths, as well as networking events with LSU Ambassadors and other on-campus organizations. Other activities included crafts, an obstacle course and a bungee run.
“We try to create programs students would enjoy with an educational component,” said Alice Womble, chair of Tigers After Ten, the organization that puts on Late Night.
Students not only came for the events and free food, but to break the ice before the start of a new semester.
“I’m new to campus, and people suggested I come to meet people,” said Mallory LeBlanc, civil engineering freshman. “I’d come again.”
