More than 500 University students, faculty and staff joined Chancellor Michael Martin in Community Bound, a wave of volunteer work in the Greater Baton Rouge community on Saturday.
The team tackled community service projects at various locations including University Terrace, South Boulevard, Belfair, Bernard Terrace, Southdowns, Highland and Magnolia Woods elementary schools; Glasgow and Broadmoor middle schools and Mayfair High.
The Community Bound program is a part of the University’s formal commitment to community statement, instituted in 1995, which aims to energize the University community to contribute positively to life on campus and the Baton Rouge area.
Community Bound is sponsored by Volunteer LSU, an organization created in 2006 to take advantage of service opportunities and make a difference at the University.
