The School of Medicine at the Health Sciences Center New Orleans’ 2009 freshman class is the largest in history with 201 incoming freshmen.
The Health Sciences Center has experienced an overall growth of 19 percent since the 2004 class, according to Health Sciences Center news release. This year’s class has 12 more students than the 2008 class.
“As the primary source of Louisiana’s physicians, we are addressing the projected physical shortage to ensure that the citizens of this state will continue to have access to high quality health care,” said Dean of the School of Medicine Steve Nelson.
