University budget cuts didn’t prevent one course from being added to the curriculum — a 3000-level class on hurricanes.
“I want to attract a large number of students from different backgrounds across campus,” said Kam-Biu Lui, department of oceanography and coastal sciences professor who teaches the course. “I think that it is very important for us [living in Louisiana] to have a very comprehensive and inter-disciplinary view about hurricanes.”
Lui expressed hope the class would one day be offered as a general education class.
