About 115 University students volunteered Monday to help clean up the neighboring community for the Martin Luther King, Jr. day of service.
The Office of Multicultural Affairs assigned students to Buchanan and Polk elementary schools and the Battered Women’s Shelter to clean gyms, paint benches and side walks, power spray and plant trees.
The project is focused on “serving and helping others,” said Baxter Sanders, Office of Multicultural Affairs graduate assistant.
