Charlie’s Coffee on Highland Road closed during winter break so the owner can focus on his other business, according to Van Lam, spokesperson for Charlie’s sister company, Regal Nails.Charlie’s and Regal Nails are both owned by University alumnus Charlie Ton. While the down-town location of Charlie’s is staying open, the other locations closed as a means to “refocus our resources,” said Lam.”Our main company is Regal Nails. [Ton] wanted to focus on rebuilding Regal Nails,” Lam said. “[To help] them be a little more profitable in their business.”Regal Nails have more than 1,000 locations throughout the United States and Canada, said Lam.”[Ton] is looking to improve the [salon] industry with regards to sanitation,” Lam said of the company’s efforts to “refocus resources” to Regal Nails, manufacturing of nail salon products and designing salons.
