LSU junior softball players Rachel Mitchell and Kirsten Shortridge were named to the Top 50 watch list for the USA Collegiate Softball Player of the Year, the Amateur Softball Association announced Wednesday.
Mitchell was  named to the Coaches’ preseason All-Southeastern Conference team on Tuesday. She hit .374 with 51 RBI last season, ranking in the Top 10 in the SEC in both categories.
Shortridge, a Baylor transfer, made first-team All-Big 12 and was the Big 12 Freshman of the Year in 2007.
