(AP) — Toxicology test results show the 21-year-old woman whose body was found floating in the Mississippi River early last month was intoxicated at the time of her drowning.
Don Moreau, chief of operations at the East Baton Rouge Coroner’s Office, says Kayla Cox Bjorndahl’s blood-alcohol content was 0.246.
That is three times the legal limit in determining whether someone is driving while intoxicated.
Moreau said no drugs were found in her system.
Police said a homeless man saw Bjorndahl’s body in the river on May 4 and alerted authorities.
She had been missing since April 28.
Moreau said Bjorndahl’s cause of death was ruled anoxic brain injury due to drowning but her manner of death was undetermined.—-Contact The Daily Reveille’s news staff at [email protected]
