LSU softball coach Yvette Girouard announced in a news release on Tuesday that the Tigers would be stealing some talent from their in-state rivals at Louisiana-Lafayette, as Heidi Pizer has decided to transfer to LSU.Pizer was a four-time All-Pacific Conference selection as a shortstop at Tigard High School in Oregon and also earned four All-Pacific Conference honors as a high school basketball player at Tigard.”Heidi was originally on our recruiting radar a few years ago as an exceptional two-sport athlete who is very talented and gifted,” Girouard said in the release. “She will fill a need for us in the middle infield as we battled injuries to our infielders last season. We need to take a page out of our national championship baseball team and surround our team with as many truly gifted athletes as possible. Heidi is one of those athletes. We’re very excited that she will be wearing purple and gold next season.”Pizer went a total of 2-for-5 from the plate while playing in eight games for the Ragin’ Cajuns and will begin her LSU softball career in 2010 as a sophomore.Pizer did not play basketball while at Louisiana-Lafayette.—-Contact The Daily Reveille sports staff at [email protected]
