A Shreveport resident and LSU alum was killed in a single vehicle crash Monday afternoon. Driving south bound on I-49, Benjamin P. Michael lost control of the 1998 Ford Explorer he was driving when the right rear tire failed, troopers told The Shreveport Times. After Michael exited the roadway into the median, the vehicle began overturning, eventually coming to rest on the roof. Several witnesses stopped to assist Michael by overturning the vehicle — which was submerged in water — onto the passenger’s side, freed him and began performing CPR, investigators told The Times. Michael was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The crash happened 25 miles north of Alexandria, La., at about 3:30 p.m. Michael graduated from the University in 2008. —-Contact Kyle Bove at [email protected]
