The LSU volleyball team announced its 2009 schedule Thursday.LSU will play 12 matches against 2008 NCAA tournament teams, including a season opener against national runner-up Stanford on August 28.The Tigers will also face Denver and Notre Dome in their first weekend of action at the Shamrock Invitational in South Bend, Ind.LSU will open its home schedule September 4 against Nebraska, another 2008 Final Four team, before hosting Louisiana-Lafayette and Tulane to complete the Tiger Classic.LSU will face Tulane again in the All-State Sugar Bowl Classic in New Orleans the following weekend, as well as Long Beach State and New Orleans.The Tigers will play a home-and-home series with every Southeastern Conference team next season, including hosting 2008 NCAA tournament teams Tennessee and Kentucky to open league play on September 18 and 20.LSU will also host South Carolina and Florida and Arkansas and Ole Miss on consecutive weekends October 9-18.The Tigers will host Georgia and Auburn on October 30 and November 1, respectively, and Mississippi State and Alabama on November 20 and November 22, respectively, and close out their regular season November 27 against Rice.—-Contact The Daily Reveille sports staff at [email protected]
